Pittsburg County Sheriff Chris Morris confirmed a body was found in the northwest portion of Pittsburg County on Tuesday.
Morris said the body has not been identified, however a suspect in the case of a missing person led the Sheriff’s Department to the site of the buried body Friday.
The body was found outside of Indianola and Ulan, Morris said. The name of the suspect was not released while under investigation, and a positive ID for the body has yet to be made, however it is suspected to be in relation to a missing persons case in Haileyville.
“There was a lady reported missing through the Haileyville police department in October,” Morris said. “The suspect showed me where the gravesite was Friday, and we were waiting on it until the medical examiners office got here to dig today.”
Weather also prevented digging over the weekend, Morris said, and Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Deputies guarded the site over the weekend.”We can confirm there was a body wrapped in plastic,” Morris said. “They’ll start back digging tomorrow, processing the crime scene and exhume the body.”
