the north face jacket KIMT’s Mason City studio sale finalized to Rochester TV LLC
MASON CITY A real estate transfer involving KIMT’s studio in Mason City is one of the latest developments involving the TV station’s sale from NexStar Broadcasting Group, Inc. to Heartland Media LLC in June 2016, according to the station’s general manager.
Lin Television Corp. sold two lots of its Mason City property to Rochester TV LLC for $614,659 and $672,659, respectively, according to Cerro Gordo County property records filed late last week.
KIMT General Manager Steve Martinson said the deal is one of the many transactions in the $115 million multimedia deal completed last June, which involved four other TV stations in the Midwest.
Some local KIMT viewers have been complaining on social media about how the station is drifting toward covering more southern Minnesota news. Martinson said no cuts have been made at the Mason City studio, and that KIMT has had offices in Rochester since 1988.
Martinson added, however, that KIMT has been expanding its Rochester studio during the past nine to 12 months but doesn’t believe it will lessen important news coverage of North Iowa.
“No one is going to wait until the 6 o’clock newscast,” he said of local news coverage. “Everything’s happening instantaneously . no matter where in our coverage area it happens, we gotta get there fast.”
